Do not use drill to assemble-not bad for price When it comes out of the box it looks VERY cheap and junky. Smaller than you think. The directions are fantastic which is rare. Once you put it together its not too bad. Just don’t use a drill!!! Use a hand screwdriver or you will overtighten and rip the cheap wood. Again I want to stress how crappy and cheap and small this “LOOKS” when coming out of the box. When put together we ordered another one for our school. Perfect combination/balance of low cost, decent quality.
Better instructions than Ikea, worse hardware I built this the day after building some IKEA furniture, and some of the differences were apparent. First the good things about this desk. The hardware came in a bunch of small packages labeled with various letters. Each of the larger parts was identified with a numbered sticker. The instructions would say attach Panel 5 to Panel 6 using the screws in package E. There was also a picture there showing how the parts fit together. This was very easy for me to follow, as there was no question about what hardware was to be used. (The IKEA furniture had hardware that looked the same except for slight distinctions in size, and I sometimes grabbed the wrong one and tried it before realizing the error). Another good feature was the inclusion of a hardware bag labeled spares (maybe it was extras?) that had extra parts if you needed them for some reason. I liked that they were in another bag as you could double check that you had used the right amount of hardware by the fact that the bag emptied…
inventory Guess I should start by saying I should have inventoried everything first….as I purchased two of these desks, got halfway through assembly to find out there were major missing pieces. I called and I had the option of sending it back (would need to un-assemble what I assembled already and the boxes I opened were no longer in shipping shape and they would eventually come pick them up…and eventually I would get another two boxes that may or may not have all pieces. If you are to buy this item, do a complete inventory check first or you’ll be in the same boat. Case to remember is that the very same pieces were missing from both orders so the likelihood that many more boxes with these desks in them are missing items as well
