This is NOT an 18 sheet shredder ! However!! Yes, this shredder is quiet as advertised.However, in reading the fine print of the instructions, they say “to maintain a durable and faultless work of the shredder, it is advised to place no more than 70% of the maximum amount of sheets to be shred at one time. The maximum amount of sheets should be used only occasionally“ Well, I did not buy it to shred 18 sheets “occasionally”, I bought it to shred 18 sheets most of the time !!so, is this an 18 sheet shredder? NO, it is a 12.6 sheet or 13 sheet shredderI have now been using this shredder for several months. It has concistently worked quietlty and shredded up to 20 sheets of paper at a time.I originally rated it one star because of the above. However, it has been so excellent,.I must now change this to 4 stars.

Great shredder for the buck Right out of the box I put this baby to the test. It does what it says it can do and more. I ran it for an hour straight with no problems. Let it cool down a bit (but did no need it). I was a bit scared when it hit a dime glued to my junk mail. It kept on going . I was going to spend $109.00 on a professional shredding service but went for another $50.00 and bought this machine. No complaints here. I did about 100 plus pounds of documents in total.

Not your economy model. My material to shred is usually generated at the office, where there is a venerable shredder of the “home office” type. When it became necessary to have a shredder at home, I searched the reviews principally here on Amazon. This shredder met my expectations 100%. It is a cross-cut shredder, which has a durable motor with an extended duty cycle. Most of the shredding we will do is regular office bond paper. Regarding the occasional comments that it does not satisfactorily shred its advertised number of sheets, rack it up to marketing. The instruction manual, if read, actually addresses most of the non-positive comments made in reviews of this product. Limit the sheets fed into the shredder to 8 at a time, if that many. Don’t forget that the on-off switch is behind the unit. Better to fold wide sheets than to expect the motor to pull them through the throat askew.
