Only ONE Complaint!        Bought this shredder to replace a 10 year-old Staples heavy-duty unit in my home office. Selected the Fellows because of reviews found here and elsewhere on the ’Net. This Fellows shredder is As Advertised! Great value. Super quiet. Efficient. Safe; so safe, I no longer fear my necktie getting caught and dragging me to my demise.ツNow, about that ONE complaint, with two suggestions. It centers around the plastic bag for the bin.[1] Save your money.      Avoid buying the Fellows bags. Based on the sample bags sent with the shredder, the bags appear to be a bit tougher than most plastic bags, but at 21¢ per bag, there is a cost-effective alternative. For instance, we use that cost less that 3¢ per bag. That is a 18¢ savings per bag![2] Keep the plastic bag from collapsing in the bin.      I did try the Fellows…

ROTTEN CASTER SOCKETS!!! The connection between the casters and their sockets at the plastic base of the shredder are so poorly and minimally designed that the plastic around the socket has cracked, and my new shredder, which is otherwise fine, is now very irritatingly difficult to move, even on my smooth floor. The shredder head is so heavy that the plastic base near the fractured socket may have given way under its weight. I think that for such an expensive item that there should be a guaranteed return on a faulty product.

A solid shredder at a good price – and one which appears to be a sturdy work-horse This is s preliminary review, and I will update it after I have used this shredder for a few months. (But so far so good)I have a six-year-old Fellowes SB89Ci which was working perfectly in my very busy home office UNTIL somebody (family) put an envelope through it containing coins, and then used the forward/back buttons to ‘clear the jam’, ultimately breaking several of the plastic “sweepers” (those white plastic things which among other things separate the blades in the cutter head and also clear paper shards as they try to wrap themselves around the cutter head). As a result, the cutter head now jams frequently and needs serious repair (it still shreds fine – except for a 5-inch gap in the middle). I contacted Fellowes and the model is no longer made AND there are no repair parts available. (Sigh) I did find two different shops who said they could probably repair it, but using one of them would cost me shipping in both directions PLUS the cost of the repair…
